Dimension One

The Dimension One is an IP networked console with a medium footprint that provides a very rich feature set normally found only on much larger consoles.

The Dimension One offers functionality normally found only on top-end large-format consoles, but in a medium footprint and at a medium price point. Because it's designed for television, it offers full 5.1 surround mixing capabilities, and upmixing and downmixing between stereo and 5.1 sources and busses is built in, along with a full complement of stereo and 5.1 surround panning controls.

An IP networked console, the Dimension One interfaces into the WheatNet-IP audio network, a fully integrated system that ships with all the audio tools, control functions, and network capabilities needed to take full advantage of IP audio. It is also available with the Gibraltar IP Mix Engine for DSP resources and Gibraltar network connectivity. The Gibraltar IP Mix Engine can handle 1,024 channels of audio, giving Wheatstone IP consoles the ability to handle challenging productions. All the mixes generated by the Dimension One can be routed to any available outputs on the audio network, including input faders on other network-connected control surfaces. Operators can assign any source of any type to any fader, and share I/O resources with other consoles in the network. This kind of power and modular flexibility provides the extra redundancy that is so critical to broadcast operations, with auto-failover DSP processing on board and the kind of I/O connectors that stand up to the broadcast environment, not to mention easy setup and operation.

The DSP power and intelligence behind Dimension One’s design have enabled us to include features that have never before been seen in a product in this price class. These features afford operator convenience as well as impressive automation capabilities.                        

Automatic Microphone Mixing: When airing a panel discussion, forum, or other program where many microphones are located close together, an audio operator has his work cut out for him. Automatic Microphone Mixing takes this difficult task out of the hands of the operator by monitoring the level coming from each microphone and automatically bringing up only those that are being spoken into.

Audio Follow Video (AFV):  Audio Follow Video works in conjunction with the video production switcher or production automation system. When engaged, the audio console will automatically crossfade between inputs as the switcher or automation system cuts or dissolves between video sources.

Spill: Usually, it’s extremely convenient to be able to control the level of an entire 5.1 surround source package with a single fader. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to individually trim the levels within that package. For example, we might need to knock down the subwoofer level, or increase the center channel gain slightly. On the Dimension One, this is easy. Just press the “Spill” button on the fader. Instantly, the six signals of the 5.1 source will be spread across six separate faders and labeled for you, and the motorized faders will snap to the current levels. Make your adjustment, turn spill off, and everything switches back to normal.

For overall control, this control surface uses motorized faders. The surface is layered, so that each fader controls two sources, each of which can be mono, stereo, or full 5.1. Faders can be “paged” together or separately. 

Dimension One provides an impressive 16 mix-minus busses and eight AUX sends. Four DCMs (digitally controlled masters) and 16 true audio groups are available. Each input, each subgroup, and each program bus output has equalization and dynamics processing available. Comprehensive confidence monitoring capabilities are also included.

          16 dedicated mono Mix-Minus busses.

          Up to 72 Bus-Minus mixes. Each Bus minus output is a discrete Mix-Minus feed or Direct Out “clean feed” from every input fader channel.


          Four Control Room/ Studio feeds each with independent muting and tally control.

          PFL and AFL Monitor outputs.


          Dedicated and programmable Talkback to Aux Sends, Mix-Minus, Bus-Minus and Monitor Mixes.



Any mic, analog line, AES-3, HD/SD SDI, or MADI input may be routed to any input fader or monitor pot.



Any output mix may be routed to any combination of analog, digital AES-3, or MADI outputs. 


Event Recall:

All surface settings may be stored/recalled for up to 100 named events.
